It's Dead, Jim
Elysian Fiction is officially on indefinite hiatus. I deeply regret
the
lack of self discipline that has led to this situation. I didn't keep up
on the
submissions, and I let the hole I dug myself get deeper and deeper
until
just the thought of the situation made it more difficult to tackle the problem.
The site will remain up, and if there's anything you need to discuss with
me,
you can reach me at jbailey @ sff . net. While the elysianfiction
e-mail address
is still active, it gets 200+ spam messages per day, so I'm likely to miss
anything
sent to it. In the meantime, consider all submissions as released and free
to be
sent elsewhere. I apologize that I won't be able to respond to those who
have
submitted during my time of incommunicado.
Please feel free to pass along this note to appropriate market databases
and
message boards.
I would like to thank everybody who ever sent me a story or read a story
on
the site. Overall, it has been a wonderful experience and I greatly
enjoyed
working with all the authors involved. I also believe that I was able to
publish
some very outstanding fantasy fiction by a great group of talented authors,
and I'd happily put Elysian Fiction straight up against any other
publication
in the field.
Will Elysian Fiction ever be back? There were enough good things
about
the experience and the results that I don't want to close the door on
the
possibility, but realistically there are a lot of things that need to change
on
my end of things before I ever give it another shot.
